Video Tech Blog #100: plane-bent (torus) flowers

Hooray! Lucky number 100! There have been some awesome tricks and some awful ones...some weeks when I had no idea what to post and some when I physically couldn't record enough video for all the ideas I had. Through it all I really have appreciated all the support and encouragement from the larger community out there. Thanks so much for tuning in, challenging me, learning, and teaching me!

This is an idea that for me came out of a post Alien Jon left on my blog a couple weeks ago about plane-shifting/bending and flowers. It turns out Ted had the same idea (though I never saw a demo) and a few others have chimed in on my Facebook to say they have played with similar concepts. The idea here is that the poi plane remains eternally 90 degrees offset of the hand, but is plane-bent between petals adding up to a somewhat toroidal shape. I have only one (sloppy) flower here demoed, but it's enough to get an idea of some of the strange things that could come out of this type of movement.
