This one's been a while in the works: trying to do a polyrhythm hybrid with only one hand! The trick here is to remember which poi is closer at which point in the shape so you can aim it accordingly. Cool looking trick but requires a lot of work and accuracy!

Triquetra vs pendulum is probably my favorite poi move, but it's kind of a misnomer because the triquetra is really something more like a CAP. With that in mind, I came up with this other CAP and combined it with an extension to create a different move that in some respects inverts elements of triquetra vs pendulum while still including many if not all of the elements of this move.

An awesome connect the dots moment! Previously on my tech blog we played around with the idea of doing 3-beat weaves with supermans. We can apply this same idea to flowers by turning the superman into a body-traced 4-petal antispin flower or 2-petal inspin flower. You can then combine it with the other hand to get either a pair of antispins or a hybrid flower along the lines of VTG tech!

A cool poi trick that came out of an experiment from an earlier tech vid: when performing the transition from pendulum vs CAP to static vs point iso, that static vs point iso can serve to transition into either cateye vs iso or cateye vs isolated pendulum. Both have a really cool bouncy effect and make use of something I dearly love about poi: the capacity to create moves that establish relationships between the poi and hands.

Following on last week's work with hybrids in three-poi land, here's another attempt of what has now been dubbed "tribrids" on the Tech Poi Facebook Group. This one utilizes a butterfly-like motion to create a cateye vs isolation vs extension tribrid, creating an intersection between three different hybrid pairs! (cateye vs iso, ext vs iso, cateye vs ext).

One of the most frustrating moves I've ever attempted: performing triquetra vs pendulum with both a handle to handle and handle to poi relationship by performing it as a three poi move. I'm straight up not gonna lie: this one is not very clean right now but it's the first thing I've found with 3 poi that I've really dug the idea of. See if this kindles any ideas in your own heads!

I first saw G do this trick a couple years ago at Burning Man and it turned out to be an essential element to getting another trick I'll be doing a tech blog on next week. This one turned out to be enough of a challenge to justify it's own tech blog, though, so enjoy! :)

Another great bit of tech from Mireneye! I love the weird possibilities this kid finds--here we take a standard atomic weave and find that there's a moment in it where we can treat it like a point iso vs extension hybrid. The great thing about it is that it works on either side, so it's a great transition between 2D and 3D moves.

One of my favorite parts of Firedrums was catching up with one of my very favorite spinners from back when I first got into tech: Mireneye from Sweden. Randomly one day he was playing around with a particular hybrid that utilized a point isolation and I suggested he try keeping his hands together during the pattern. Magic ensued and we also worked out a poi to hand relationship hybrid of the same type.

Something I spotted in a video of Ted Petrosky made me think of this--he did a cool body tracer around his shoulders (if memory serves, I've seen Michael Parisi doing the same tracer) and it occurred to me that the top part could be combined with a C-CAP faced downward to create a cool variant on BTH static vs CAP.
