Video Tech Blog #10: Freespinning on the national mall

Last week I got a request from a guy who wanted to see me doing some actual spinning rather than just playing with concepts. Today was a bright and sunny day on the national mall, so I figured why not. Not a whole lot of really technical stuff here, but I had fun making it. Be back next week with more theory ;)

Video Tech Blog #9: Hybrid, antispin flower, hyperloop

Working my way through the four basic isolation vs. extension patterns--cateye patterns to come next. Revisiting turning with the polyrhythm trifoil hybrid, antispin buzzsaw flowers/fountains, and some sloppy attempts at hyperloops.

Video Tech Blog #8: 1.5s, antibrid/hybrid, atomic flower

Holy crap...lots of stuff in here. First off clarifying last week's theory on 1.5 butterfly patterns and extrapolating new transitions and patterns based upon it. Also--do butterfly 1.5s lead to horizontal cateyes? You decide. Transitions from cateye antibrids to cateye/extenstion hybrid, a couple of Mireneye's patterns from his latest vid, some atomic flowers, and a partridge in a pear tree. Sorry about the audio!

Video Tech Blog #7: more pendulums, 1.5s, flowers

A butterfly flower stall I was shown a couple weeks ago, plus more variations on the butterfly 1.5s--including a vertical variant. Also some of the techniques I'm using to practice antispin flowers. If anybody has any better exercises, let me know.

Video Tech Blog #6: Atomic fountain, trifoil flowers

A couple variations on trifoil flower hybrids--turning with them and a same direction version Lucas showed me this weekend. Also using the atomic weave as a fountain to draw a square in wall plane.

Video Tech Blog #5: Atomic weaves, pendulums, flowers

Reverse atomic weave variation on the notcoleman3 and turning with it, a funky new pendulum idea, and turning with butterfly flowers. Simple yet pretty.

Video Tech Blog #4: Hybrid/Antibrids, atomic weaves

Based upon feedback last week, includes a clarification of what constitutes a hybrid vs. an antibrid, triangle antispin flower antibrid and cateye/isolation antibrid, an atomic weave, and a cool little triangle antispin flower pattern Sean Stogner and I worked out over the weekend.

Video Tech Blog #3: Hybrids and meltdowns

Some embarrassingly sloppy hybrids that involve isolations, extensions, and cateyes, as well as a couple more variations on meltdowns and crossers.

Video Tech Blog #2: More 1.5s, meltdowns

More 1.5 and pendulum variations, including behind-the-head, a meltdown variant, turning with 1.5 opposites and same direction, and an interesting take on meltdowns. Sorry about the crappy audio--my normal camera wasn't working.

Video Tech Blog #1: 1.5s and Pendulums

A bunch of variations on 1.5s and Pendulums--both same and opposite direction variants in wall and side planes as well as behind-the-back.
